In Guatemala, Tzunun Chumil was kidnapped at a young age and lived a life that most of us would consider a nightmare.  The man that kidnapped her forced her to lead the life of a con artist; however, Tzunun (who was renamed Rosa) had vague memories of a mother who taught her the difference between right and wrong.  These memories helped her to find the right path despite her kidnapper’s devious ways.  To find out how Tzunun found her way back home, check out Colibri by Ann Cameron.

Mrs. Prince read Begging for Change by Sharon Flake. The theme of the book is struggle. Raspberry is trying to define herself and create an identity separate from her father. Her father is a troubled individual with an addiction problem. He often steals to support his habits. Raspberry is embarassed by her father and his actions, but she steals money from her best friend and a neighbor. She is conflicted by her own actions. Raspberry wonders if she is better or the same as her dad. This book is good for a person who, like Raspberry, arrives at a fork in the road and questions which direction their life should take. –Review by Mrs. Prince
